or normal operation. Orange, or legendary

items, are essentially unique items that

typically come with 4 empty mod slots. At

maximum level, for maximum power, you

are aiming for full artifact (purple) quality

items.

Commendations

Each planet comes with their own

commendations, a unique credit system

that allows you to trade for powerful gear

and mods. Typically, these items will be

huge improvements over what you would

normally find on a given planet though they

are on-par with the quality of items found in

regular flashpoints. From levels 1 to 49,

you'll collect commendations and carry

them with you to the next planet. Sadly,

you can't use them on any planet but their

own (Nar Shaddaa on Nar Shaddaa only).

You can acquire these commendations

randomly from enemy kills or from quest

rewards and purchasing items costs

between 2 and 24 commendations. Since

the commendation vendors are located

near the planet spaceports, you'll walk by

them when you land on a new planet. Take

a look at the vendors and keep note of what

items you'd like to purchase. This will allow

you to plan when to select a commendation

as a quest reward and when to take

another path. It can be annoying to realize

too late that you needed 15

commendations for an item and you only

have 14. Likewise, it can be a waste of

possible credits if you have 16 when you

only needed 15. If you have multiples of 2

left over when you're ready to leave a

planet, purchase some cheap mods and sell

them back to the vendors for some easy

credits.

Once you reach level 50 you can

participate in hard flashpoints and

operations, which come in normal, hard and

nightmare difficulty. Killing bosses in these

and completing the entire area will rewards

you with additional commendations,

specifically Tionese commendations for

hard flashpoints and normal operations and

Columi commendations for hard and

nightmare operations. Each of these can

be traded in with their accompanying

crystals (also found in the same areas) for

some upgrades. You won't see any crystals

drop unless you are in Hard Mode

flashpoints or operations, so it might come

as a surprise to see a new currency even if

you've been level 50 for a while.
